I’m Facebook friends with the two girls who took over my job as a French assistant in England. Seeing that every time they get back to the UK after holidays makes them sad secretly makes me happy. Being middle class is being able to pay for car repairs when they’re needed, is going to the dentist when your teeth hurt, is getting an unusually large electric bill and being annoyed instead of thrown into a panic.
